Direct answer

Firebrick and fireclay brick commonly describe shaped aluminosilicate refractories, but the exact grade must match chemistry, porosity, strength, temperature, shape and position in the combustion chamber.

What the names mean

Commercial names do not define service temperature or grade. A technical selection identifies the composition, physical properties, shape and compatible jointing system.

Domestic combustion chambers

For stoves, wood-fired ovens, fireplaces, masonry heaters and boilers, provide internal dimensions, photos, fuel and a description of damage. Standard or custom shapes, mortar, delivery and agreed installation can then be defined.

Checks before installation

Confirm the brick function, expansion space, steel-shell condition and initial dry-out requirements. Incorrect mortar, thick joints or early firing can compromise a suitable brick.
